Every day of school counts! That’s why Mayor Bowser and the State Board of Education partnered to reward students and schools that improved attendance this year! Congratulations to the individual student winners and their families as well as the following six schools that made significant improvement to their attendance: Meridian Public Charter School, Ketcham Elementary School, Friendship Public Charter School Technology Preparatory Academy, Kramer Middle School, Capital City Public Charter School-High School and Cardozo Education Campus.

For the competition next year, we want to provide gift cards for parents and students, food and beverages for school assemblies, prizes and other celebratory items like DJ services and celebrity visitors. These rewards and celebrations will seek to recognize the hard work of schools, families and students to make every day count and encourage strong attendance for the upcoming school year.
