Recognizing Schools, Students, and Families

School success starts with you. As we  build city and school cultures that draw students to their school, it is important that we show them that we know it takes work worthy of recognition to make it to school every day. Thanks to generous donations from community leaders, businesses, nonprofit organizations, and foundations, the following rewards will be available for schools, students, and families who improve their attendance during the 2017-2018 school year. 

High School/Middle School

  • One of the most improved high schools will have a summer late night pool party, hosted by DPR
  • 10 graduating high school seniors who improve their attendance will receive a free laptop for college
  • Four middle school students with improved attendance will be able to design a pair of their own Nike, Adidas, or Converse sneakers
  • One of the most improved middle schools will receive a DPR Pop Up Day
  • 10 high school students and 10 middle school students will win a bike and helmet
  • Every school offering grades 6-12 will receive 10 tickets to the Atlantic 10 Basketball Tournament at Capital One Arena
  • Middle and high school students who try their best to get to school throughout the year can also receive tickets to Wizards, Capitals, and Nationals games; movie tickets; and other cool prizes

Elementary School

  • One of the most improved elementary schools will win a DPR Pop Up Day, which can include moon bounces, a rock-climbing wall, and other fun activities
  • Another school will win an ice cream party hosted by Ben and Jerry’s
  • Parents working hard to improve their child’s attendance can win grocery store gift cards
  • 10 students will win a bike a bike and helmet

Please note that selection criteria for each reward varies, prioritizing schools with the highest need.
